Why Us!
Tamil Nadu Government Polytechnic College is a premier technical institute in Southern India. Established in 1890 by the District Board of Madurai, it later merged with the Municipal Industrial School. In 1910, the Madras Presidency took over its administration, and by 1919, it became the Government Industrial Training Institute, offering technical certificate courses.
In 1946, under the Post-War Development Scheme, Dravida Polytechnic was established alongside the Industrial Training Institute. The polytechnic was later renamed Tamil Nadu Polytechnic College and eventually became Tamil Nadu Government Polytechnic College.
With the creation of the Department for Technical Education in 1957, the college came under the administrative control of the Director of Technical Education, Chennai. Over the years, it has evolved into a center for skill development, industry collaboration, and technical education.

Material testing evaluates the quality and properties of construction materials by conducting test on cement ,sand , Aggregate,water, Concrete, Brick, Paver block and test on Tor steel and mild steel to ensure compliance with relevant Indian standards and specifications.
